Since 2010, to reduce accidents rates to which the border population is exposed, the Commission has dedicated itself to plan, organize, and implement alcohol use such as checkpoint campaigns and breathalyzers; promote road improvements such as safe routes/roads; reinforce seat belt use and the use of child safety car seats; and provide health education on substance use and abuse through strategies and the adaptation of coalition development models across the border region such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving and U.S.-México Safe Kids.
